    Totally New:

CyberRat 2.0 has been redesigned as an Internet/CD Hybrid! As an Internet/CD Hybrid, CyberRat is a fully functioning oprant conditioning laboratory that is as convenient as your student's own computer and internet connection! Either hard drive or CD-ROM delivery offers endless play of high quality video.

    What Is CyberRat?

CyberRat is a fully interactive and responsive digital video presentation of a real laboratory animal. CyberRat provides a database containing over 1,600 behavioral video clips, all seamlessly played back in unique sequences using stochastic algorithms. Student record keeping and data archives are maintained on our own internet servers to give instructors easy access to student progress summaries-- anywhere, anytime!

Why CyberRat is Realistic Beyond All Expectations!

      Conducting Experiments in CyberRat

Gross-motor activity habituates to the novelty of an animal being placed into the chamber during pre-conditioning habituation sessions. Pre-session water deprivation levels have realistic effects on performance. Water satiation occurs naturally within sessions involving high-density use of reinforcements. CyberRat allows the use of "successive approximation" training techniques for shaping many new behaviors, including some--like bar pressing--that will almost never occur unless you shape them. Prior to shaping, magazine train subjects to respond to conditioned reinforcement sounds associated with primary "water" reinforcement delivery. Intermittent schedules of reinforcement, whether interval or ratio create standard response rate patterns. Schedule densities result in realistic rate differences and you may even experience "ratio strain" if you lean a schedule too quickly!

CyberRat includes complete video replay of any session!

Designed with Student Learning In Mind!

    Graphic Results and Video Review

There is a complete graphing environment for reviewing or zooming in on details of all cumulative records. Cumulative graphs of data archives also allow inserted video playback of any or all segments of the data record. This means all archived data may be viewed in cumulative record and behavioral forms simultaneously, whether supplied by us, generated by you, or as a review of a student's session!

Designed with Class Management In Mind!

All experimental session records are maintained on our internet servers for each individual student in your course. Our instructor's control browser allows you to assign various experimental tasks and to view student progress summaries on all assignments with easy-to-monitor access to student session records. Sessions for all students may be archived on our servers as both response rate data and movie scripts for easy playback to review and diagnose problems or unique results.

    Control Experimental Variables and Parameters!

    CyberRat's Colony Room

Select and manage rats with randomized sizes and learning characteristics or even specific experimental histories from the CyberRat colony.

    Parameter Management

Experimental variables may be altered, including number of hours of water deprivation, magnitude and schedules of reinforcement. Instructors may select-and-lock variable parameters or may unlock and allow student self-selections!

CyberRat now has Learning and Conditioning Tutorials available!

We have just released the perfect companion for any Learning course and textbook! Ray, Belden, and Eckerman's Learning and Conditioning Tutorials is a new chapter-length (40 topics) set of Artificially Intelligent Adaptive Instruction-based Tutorials were written to accompany CyberRat specifically, but includes coverage on Classical, Operant,Cognitive, and Ecological Perspectives on Learning and Conditioning, These tutorials emphasize all the significant technical terminology and concepts as well as applications from each perspective.

On-line mastery certification testing for each perspective is included, along with free instructor course-managment tools for setting deadlines, monitoring student progress, and lots of other important features (inclding customized on-line testing using any mixture of four question formats--including Verplank's Verbal Associates format!). The adaptive certification testing engine allows for multiple administrations of Certification Tests with assurance of minimal test duplications, thus allowing instructors to offer PSI-oriented mastery as a requirement for this important new course supplement.

In addition, a multi-topic non-tutored/non-tested section on strategies for selecting animals, setting experimental parameters, successfully magazine training, and effeciently shaping rats in CyberRat is included as an on-line "appendix" to the tutorials, Free pdf file versions of all the topical materials in Ray, Belden, and Eckerman's Learning and Conditioning Tutorials, including the "how-to" appendix, are available at our PDF File Download page.

To get a fully operational on-line adaptive tutorial evaluation experience of Ray, Belden, and Eckerman's Learning and Conditioning Tutorials, go to our Evaluation Copy page for a quick and easy registration and download.
